Floor Koops

Partner, Amsterdam

Floor Koops combines deep financial-institution insight with private-practice pedigree — a background that gives her a unique vantage point and makes her particularly effective as a trade-compliance and sanctions adviser for global clients.

Her pragmatic, business-facilitating mindset means she speaks the language of both corporate and banking stakeholders, understands how financial institutions assess risk, structure financing and payment flows in practice, and designs compliance strategies that are legally sound, commercially viable and operationally realistic — enabling clients to pursue global opportunities with confidence, while safeguarding compliance, reputation and strategic growth.

In her former role as senior legal & compliance adviser at a leading international bank, Floor guided the institution through intricate, cross-border export-finance, payment-flow and sanctions-sensitive transactions. She served as a C-suite sanctions and export-control adviser in multi-jurisdictional financing structures, trade-finance operations and global payment/financing arrangements — helping the bank navigate shifting EU and international regulatory regimes, heightened scrutiny and reputational risk, while preserving deal viability and commercial objectives.

In moments of crisis or potential enforcement exposure, Floor has proven her capacity to steer strategy under pressure: leading rapid-response, restructuring or exit-planning, advising on counterparty and compliance risk, and coordinating with senior management to protect the bank's reputation, ensure compliance, and safeguard business continuity.

At Bennink Dunin-Wasowicz, she helps clients — from exporters and manufacturing groups to industrial firms and financial institutions — by:

  • Providing tailored sanctions, export-control and trade-compliance advice aligned to their business models and international footprint;
  • Advising and supporting clients in their interactions with banks and other financial-institution counterparties, particularly where sanctions, export-controls or complex international payment and financing flows require enhanced structuring and due diligence;
  • Delivering strategic risk-mitigation, crisis-management and enforcement-preparedness support where reputational, regulatory or geopolitical risks call for proactive guidance;
  • Performing enhanced third-party and counterparty due diligence in high-risk or multi-jurisdictional contexts;
  • Designing compliance-governance frameworks, policies and procedures that reconcile legal requirements with clients' commercial and operational realities.

With Floor on board, Bennink Dunin-Wasowicz strengthens its capacity to serve international clients operating across complex trade, export-finance, banking-payment and global supply-chain environments — offering compliance advice that is technically rigorous, commercially focused and finely attuned to both business and financial-institution realities.
